Crystals for Fertility, Cycle Health & Pregnancy

As an acupuncturist I work with crystals quite a bit and since my speciality is uterine health I tend to use mostly stones that have an effect on fertility, balancing hormones, the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, or postpartum. I'll tell you about some of my favorites and if any of them call to you, they're all available in my online store

Rose Quartz

Rose quartz is the stone of unconditional love, it's so comforting and soft, like a warm, safe hug. It's a great crystal for beginners, but even seasoned crystal owners are still obsessed with it. It's an anytime, anywhere crystal that pretty much everyone loves.

It has a strong resonance with the 2nd chakra, reproductive organs, fertility, and the menstrual cycle. You can use it on the lower abdomen to affect the uterus and ovaries and you can place it in your bedroom to lend extra love energy.

Rose quartz also resonates with the heart and lends comfort when we’re experiencing stress, grief, or anxiety. Because it's such a love-filled stone it benefits self love, romantic love, familial love, and relationships of any kind.

In Chinese medicine the heart channel runs through the chest and into the palms of the hands, so to benefit the heart you can use rose quartz over the center of your chest or in the palms of your hands. It also feels nice over the third eye point between the eyebrows to calm the mind and it's a soothing stone for inflammation, so try it on sore muscles, bruises, inflamed skin, or congested sinuses.

Moonstone

This is simply one of the most Yin, or feminine, stones there is. Moonstone is an excellent choice for regulating the menstrual cycle and balancing hormones. It also calms the spirit and improves sleep.

It is known as the stone of new beginnings, it is closely linked to the moon cycle and our intuition. It is excellent for calming emotions when we're triggered and overacting to the situation at hand.

In Chinese medicine moonstone resonates with the Ren channel, also known as the "conception vessel" because it runs through the uterus and affects fertility and menstruation. This channel consists of the acupuncture points along the mid-line of the front of the body. So moonstone is particularly useful anywhere along this mid-line. Place it:

  • In the notch at bottom of the throat and the top of the sternum to resonate with the thyroid

  • At the center of the chest to calm heart palpitations or tight chest

  • Anywhere along the midline of the abdomen to affect digestion

  • On the lower abdomen to affect the menstrual cycle/hormones

Carnelian

This is an excellent crystal for all things uterine and reproductive health, much like a stone equivalent of Raspberry Leaf Tea. It helps to balance hormones, regulates the menstrual cycle, boosts libido, as well as supporting the body through a healthy pregnancy and the postpartum period.

For it's effect on the uterus and ovaries use it on the low abdomen, hold it in the pockets of your pants, hold it in your hand during meditation, or keep it in a spot where you'll spend some time with it each day, such as on your nightstand or desk.

It's also a wonderful stone for encouraging creativity as well as calming the mind in busy individuals who have trouble relaxing. It helps to ground and stabilize you in the present reality as it resonates with the root chakra.

Hematite

Hematite is one of the heaviest stones used in Chinese medicine so it’s ideal for helping us to ground, as well as anchoring blood and Qi downward into the pelvis and lower body. This improves circulation to the reproductive organs, genitals, bladder, large intestine, hips, legs, and feet. For this purpose you can use hematite anywhere on the lower abdomen, low back, sacrum, or lower extremities. It's especially lovely when used on the soles of the feet.

A very metallic stone, hematite is made up mostly of iron, so it’s also used to improve iron absorption in the body. Especially during pregnancy or other times of high metabolic activity, hematite can be used in addition to diet and/or supplementation to prevent anemia. For this purpose you can keep the stone in your pocket, hold it in your hand during meditation, or even use as a worry stone - if you’re feeling anxious just rub it with your thumb to relieve some tension.

Aragonite Star Clusters

These are like little balls of fire, warming and invigorating, aragonite star clusters are great for anyone who feels low energy, slow metabolism, or reduced libido. Yet they are still great for calming fears, trauma, and anxiety. Place one of them under your pillow to ease nightmares.

Aragonite is particularly beneficial for fertility if used after ovulation to support implantation and early pregnancy, or it can also be used by men to boost sperm quality. In Chinese medicine aragonite resonates strongly with the kidney system so it's beneficial to use anywhere on the low back or low abdomen.

These are also used for improving concentration, bringing groups of people together, and creating a sense of relief for those who push themselves too hard. It teaches patience and acceptance while also offering strength and support.

Tiger's Eye

Tiger's eye is an excellent stone for supporting pregnancy, improving digestion, calming asthma, and soothing sinus congestion. Intentionally, it's used to generate wealth and prosperity, as well as improving focus, especially during meditation if you're just starting out and find it difficult to calm and quiet your mind.

You can hold it in your hand or slip it in your pocket, you can also use tiger's eye on specific locations to affect different parts of the body:

  • Place on the inner wrist to improve digestion

  • Place to either side of the nose to reduce nasal congestion

  • Use anywhere on the body that feels painful

  • Hold in your hand to calm asthma

All of these stones are available here.
